6 months..I don’t know. I recently got a 90 day visa through a visa service in Houston..China Visa.com. Everything worked fine, It’s my understanding that you can’t just go to the Chinese embassy and get a visa. You must hire an agency to do this for you.
* Take a flight to Hong Kong
* Shop around for a travel agant
* Ask them "where should I go in this time of the year?’ or etc…
* Think about it if you really want to visit all those places….
Don’t forget to ask PRICE….
But they don’t have any tourist more then 2 weeks…
Depending on where you live (in the US), you need to contact the Chinese Consulate in your city and obtain the visa application from their website, fill it out and go in the consulate during business hours with a valid passport and you can get your visa. Just search online for Chinese Consulate SanFrancisco for example so you can get the address. Search online for China Visa to get the visa application. I just did this a month ago to get my 30 day visa for travel this summer to china
If you are US citizen, getting F visa for 6 month/multi entry is not so difficult.
Ask travel agency in US. or if you have chance to go to Hongkong. the local travel agency will help you too.
I have got F visa in Hongkong. waited 6 hours only and paid about hk$1000. You need a pic of your face for ID.
The easiest place to get a six month visa is Hong Kong – usually CTS (China Travel Service) is good. If you’re American, you don’t need a visa to get into HK. Oh and by the way – you CAN go to a Chinese consulate to get your visa – most likely the company Moxie used said you can’t submit in person. I’ve gotten visas in Hong Kong, DC and NYC, and in Seoul. Seoul was the worst because of the line and when they open those gates in the morning after waiting for an hour… tons of Chinese workers make a run for the windows.. some to the wrong windows then they fight to get back to the correct window. Worst consulate experience I’ve ever had.

I believe you need to speak with someone at the Consulate office.

You’ll have to contact a Chinese embassy or perhaps a tour company can do it for you.
