My family got to China without a travel visa. Will they have problems getting back to the U.S without one ?
My family made the trip to Hong Kong China without a travel visa, after being told at the passport office , they did not need one. Now they are limited where they can go in China. I want to know if they are going to need a visa to get back into the united states ?

I have done this, no worries, if they wan to enter mainland China they will of course need a tourist visa, which you can get at any local travel agent, I have used Modern Wings Travel agent, very nice people

Hong Kong is a SAR, special administrative region of China.it has it’s own laws and administrative set up.That is why China calls it "1 country 2 systems".
American passport holders visiting Hong Kong do not need a visa, a 90 days visa is issued to them upon arrival. For visiting Mainland China, they require a separate visa issued by a Chinese embassy overseas, for they do not qualify for visa on arrival at a Chinese port.
They can freely live in Hong for 90 days and return to the US without any visa or other formality.
