Yes you can, but you will be charged "double" at first since it’s a debit and not a credit card. It isn’t something the hotel does on purpose and it’s kind of hard to explain. I used a debit card for reservations at two hotels recently on a vacation and found this out for the very first time since it happened at both of them.
A day or two before your scheduled reservation the hotel with "pre-authorize" your credit card to make sure it is good for the total amount of your bill and won’t decline of course. Since it isn’t a credit card your bank will hold any funds for the pre-authorized amount. It will show that the funds are either held or have been debited from your account even though you haven’t really been charged anything. Once you get to the hotel to check-in and hand over your credit card they will remove the "pre-authorization" and charge your card for the total amount of your bill. On debit cards the pre-auth refund process takes a few business days so there will be a 3 or 4 day period there will your online banking will show that your account has been billed double the cost of your hotel bill, but after a few days it will show the pre-authorized amount credited back to your account. Hope this makes sense.
1) Your Debit card has a Visa or Master logo on it.
2) The hotel accepts credit card
You really got to be careful because what you are using is a debit card and if that is a ‘Black’ hotel. They can do a charge on your debit card without your knowledge and since it is not a credit card, you will not have any protection against fraudulent and your loss of money will be hard to recover.
