The Great Wall of China because I watched a movie called Mulan and the wall looked fascinating.

The birdsnest in Bejing.
It is where the olympic opening cerimonies were held.

I am English, but have lived in China for the last 13 years. During that time, I’ve been lucky enough to visit most parts of China.
Highlights: Scenery: Zhangjiajie; Guilin,
Cities: Xi’an (home to the terracotta warriors and much more). Hong Kong. Shanghai
Minority Villages: Guangxi, Sanjiang; Southern Yunnan near the Burmese border.
Others: Qingdao for the beer and beaches; The Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, Beijing
And a hundred more. Except the Great Wall!
The sections of the Great Wall which most tourists see were rebuilt in the 1980s and are crawling with really annoying people trying to sell you total trash at outrageous prices. They play loud "patriotic" music all the time and the sides of the wall are full of litter.
The real, unreconstructed wall is falling down and can be dangerous.

China is a country of 5000 years of written history and 56 ethnics, or 56 completely different cultures.
Just go to any Chinese city conveniente for you and the sights and cultures there will amaze you. Yes, any place.
New comers to China usually go to Beijing, Shanghai or Guangdong, which are most easily accessible through airlines and more turistic developed.
I’d list here a few places that fanscinate the local Chinese to travel domestically:
Yellow Mountains, arguably the most beautiful mountains in China with its unique "oceans of clouds".
Jiu Zhai Gou, the most beautiful river in colorful streams in China in the jungles.
Lhasa, Tibet. Beautiful scenery on the world’s roof top and Buddism. I think foreigners now need a permission to travel there.
Xinjiang. The grass lands and desserts and the ancient Silk Way which connected the Chinese Empire and Rome.
The ancient town of Li Jiang. This is arguably best preserved ancient Chinese city of the Han culture.
